Thank you for asking the question.
Glimepiride belongs to sulfonylurea group. Sulfonylureas can cause hypoglycemia. Metformin alone doesn’t cause hypoglycemia. So you should be careful. When a doctor prescribe a drug which can cause hypoglycemia, usually that doctor educate him about the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia and what should he do when any of these signs or symptoms appear.
So the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia are:

  1. Confusion
  2. Palpitations
  3. Dizziness
  4. Rapid heart rate
  5. Sweating
  6. Chills
  7. Hunger
  8. Loss of consciousness
  9. Irritability or impatience

So always keep glucose tablets in your pocket and use them when needed. As hypoglycemia is an acute event and it should be treated immediately.

Best Regards.
