If your blood sugars are high, it means, either you are not taking care of your diet, you are not following the proper diabetic diet or you need more dose of insulin. 
You must increase your activity, if you are obese, or overweight, you must try to lose weight, as obesity increases insulin resistance. 
If this is not the case, if you are properly following the diabetic diet, and you are not overweight and you are following an exercise plan, then your dose of insulin should be increased, please visit your primary care physician with a fasting and post meals record of blood sugar and allow him to adjust you insulin dose per protocol.
