Anna asked 7 years ago
  • Hello I’m a female and almost 20 years old this year. The thing is I’ve always had very thick and yellowish vaginal discharge and it often smells and I get it very often in a day even. I’ve been using soap to wash my vaginal area and it never causes irritation so far but what I’m concerned is my vagina discharge seems to have bloody or brownish speck on it. And its been going on for 2 days now so its very recent and I’m a little freaked out cause things like this never happens to me. Im not sexually active because I never had sex. Can anyone tell me what’s going on to me and should I be concerned? I already am but in hoping someone could explain and give me advices. Thank you.

Hello Anna,
Thank you for asking the question.
Small whitish vaginal discharge is normal, as it keeps the vagina lubricated and protect it from the effect of friction, also contains some immunoglobulins that help fighting infections. But when it becomes, yellowish, smelly or blood stained, it indicates an infection, now a doctor would examine you and he or she may do a couple of tests to determine if it is a fungal infection or a bacterial infection and give you a prescription, she may also do a PAP smear. it is an easily treatable condition, so don’t worry and get an appropriate prescription soon.
I hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further query, please post in the comment.
Regards.
