Thank you for asking the question.
I am Dr. Adil Ramzan
Trichomonaisis is the commonest and easily curable sexually transmitted disease. Men and women both can be affected by the disease, but it is the woman who shows the signs and symptoms more easily and readily. In men, it remains asymptomatic until their partners start to show signs and symptoms. When a woman is diagnosed with trichomoniasis then she should avoid sexual intercourse until the course of antibiotics finishes, and her partner should also get the treatment in order to minimize the risk of recurrence. So when your wife got infected for the first time, did you too get the treatment? if yes the risk of recurrence is minimal but one can not say for sure that infection can’t reoccur. It may reoccur if any of the partners exposes to the infection once again or the male partner didn’t get the treatment in the past.  Risk of transmission can be minimized with the help of using the condom.

thank you for asking the question.
Trichomoniasis is an easy to treat infection with metronidazole. It can reoccur if the male partner is not treated. It is important to screen the male partner of the female as well, and if he is found positive, treat him as well. If the male partner is not treated, the disease may recur in the female.
Thank you.
