Medical QuestionsCategory: Women Healthscared-of-pregnancy
R asked 7 years ago

I am highly irregular in my menstruation cycle and a couple weeks ago I was being intimate with my boyfriend. He ejaculated (nowhere near my vagina or vulva/labia) and I may have touched it (I can\’t recall). I think I wiped my hands afterwards but I\’m not sure if I touched myself with the same hand. I am scared that the wiped semen that may have been on my hand found its way to my vulva via digital stimulation (there was no penetration of the vagina). Is there a chance that I\’m pregnant? I have had no symptoms, but I\’m highly irregular so I can\’t tell if I\’ve missed a period or not. This fear is driving me up the wall and often it\’s all I think about. Please help me.

Thank you for asking the question.
The first symptom that tells or warn a female about having a pregnancy is a missed period.
It would have been better, if you have told me your age, I would have been able to give a more specific answer. if your periods have been irregular for a long time, it means you don’t have fixed day of ovulation, it is also important which day of the menstural cycle you had sex (1st day is bleeding is counted as the 1st day of the cycle.). if you had sex between 11th and 18th day of your cycle then the risk is high as ejaculating outside doesn’t completely exclude the risk of pregnancy. although the risk is low but risk is still there.
Moreover, you said you are not having any other symptom, and considering your history that you are having irregular cycles, then there is a high probability you may not be pregnant. But still, there are two methods to confirm it quickly,

  1. Urine dipstick test.
  2. Abdominal ultrasound.

Urine dipstick is easy to do at home, so you can try it, get a pregnancy urine test strip and follow the directions and confirm and lets us know about the results.
I hope I have answered your question.
Regards.
