Dear Lance, i am Dr. Adil.
Thank you for asking the question.
There is no history of trauma or injury then Septic arthritis is one of the causes of sudden pain in a joint, another cause is reactive arthritis, which may occur after a recent sexual relationship. Gout may also cause pain in one or more joints. In your age, any of the above-mentioned causes may cause sudden joint pain, now we have to find out what the actual cause is. as the treatment is different for each one of these.

In order to find out what’s the actual problem, you will need to be seen by a doctor. He may run some tests such as CBC, ESR, CRP, may be uric acid levels, or an X-Ray if needed.
I hope this information will help you.

Kind Regards.
