If diagnosed in time antiviral drug helps, if crusting starts, then supportive management helps, Itching cause disfigurement and scar formation, so the patient is advised not to scratch, in order to limit itching topical lotions and antiallergic medications are sometimes used and to combat fever Paracetamol is advised every 6 hours.

So treatment is mainly supportive, although complications are rare but may occur, especially in an immunocompromised patient and in pregnant females.
