Following a fall last weekend, resulting in a compression fracture in my lower back, I’ve been taking high doses of Ibuprofen / Motrin every six hours.  The medication has resulted in constipation since I began the medication.  i’ve tried two over the counter laxatives, to no avail.  What should I try next….Fleets Enema?

Hi, Thank you for asking the question.
Rectal glycerin suppositories are helpful in passing hard stool, they make the passage of hard stool easier, oral Colace, lactulose in appropriate dosage should be tried first and if there is no bowel movement for 48 to 72 hours, then fleet enema can be tried, exercise, small frequent meals help to stimulate bowel movements.

but again I will stress we should first try to find out the cause of constipation and treat the cause, this will be the permanent solution
Regards.
