Medical QuestionsCategory: Men HealthHerpes transmission
Sterling Hamilton asked 5 years ago

I am a 56 year old man. I have been diagnosed with herpes. I have been on 600 mg of Acyclovir for 5-6 years. I have recently started dating again. I am afraid to give this to anyone else. I have not had an ‘outbreak’ (herpes soar) in 18 months. Can I give my partner herpes without being in an ‘outbreak’ or having any herpes soars?

Thank you for asking the question.
If you do not have any symptoms and you are already treated, then there is a low risk of transmission. In order to reduce the risk further, condoms can be used.

But keep in mind genital herpes is a common condition and many people worldwide are affected by it and it is more contagious when the affected person is symptomatic.

In your case, the best approach would be the use of condoms. . . ! i hope this will help.

Best Regards.
