Medical QuestionsCategory: Women HealthMy menstruation cramps that seem to not go away no matter what I do. Help!
Rebecca Naliaka Maina asked 5 years ago

Hello!
My name is Becky. I am 18 years old. I live in the Philippines.
I have had very bad menstruation cramps over the past couple of years, and I have taken every single OTC pain pill that I can but none of them have worked. These include – mefenamic acid, iboprufen, celecoxib, eterocoxib and paracetamol. Etc.
I also apply heat during my menstruation pain, which barely helps at all, but it just makes the process a little bit more comfortable.
I need medical advice as to what I can do to cease this pain
medical advice as to what else I can do. Thank you.

Thank you for asking a question.
menstrual pain is common, and those women who have this is somewhat difficult to treat. a class of drugs called SSRIs (eg. sertraline, paroxetine etc) also help to manage PMS in severe cases, especially when it is associated with anxiety.
Painkillers are usually given and can be used as needed.
Kindly discuss with your doctor if you are a candidate for SSRI trial.
Best Regards.
