I have missed my period for over a month now. Did a home pregnancy test, got it negative. So I took the pills my gynaecologist had given me for my borderline PCOD diagnosis two years ago to take whenever I miss periods and I am supposed to get my period within a week or so. It\’s been five days and I haven\’t gotten my period. I am scared. I am 19 years old.

Hi,
Thank you for asking a question.
It is common to have a missed period with a polycystic ovarian disease. The cycles can be easily regularized with oral contraceptives if indicated, if a patient is symptomatic has abnormally heavy hair growth or misses periods very often. If you are overweight lose weight, I will suggest you not to be scared, as heaving a missed period in PCOD is not an uncommon issue, before marriage, weight losing strategy works best, there are other medication as well to treat this disorder, but usually, the goal of these medications is to achieve pregnancy. At this point, i will suggest, continue with weight losing strategy, don’t allow yourself to gain wait, and if you miss period more frequently or you are having abnormal hair growth then consult your gynecologist and so she can prescribe you some medication, that you will need to take regularly to regularize your cycle as well as to minimize hair growth other issues.
