Medical QuestionsCategory: Women HealthSwelling and numbness in neck
Jeannette Šašo asked 6 years ago

My s/o bit me a little too hard, and while he didn’t break skin or draw blood the pain and numbness is worrying me. There is light swelling on the right side of my neck, and the pain feels like a bruise. Should I be worried and what should I do? [Female, 18]

Hi
Thank you for asking the question.
The damage that resulted from the bite, triggered an inflammatory response. which is a normal process. Swelling and numbness is the result of it. As there is no skin break, it shouldn’t be serious. But it will take time, and the pain and numbness will improve with time and resolved spontaneously. Try an over the counter pain killer.
If it doesn’t resolve or is too painful or swelling continues to increase visit a doctor.
Regards.
